Has anyone else had the problem where you reply to a lj comment, and LJ completely messes up the scoping of your reply, instead posting it as a comment on the top-level entry? This has been happening to me quite often lately. Going back through the browser cache confirms that i selected the right "Reply to this" link, and that LJ did the wrong thing with my post.

I have noticed this, but never when I'm replying directly to a comment. It happens when I start to reply to a comment, have to fix something, and then hit "Post Comment"; then it gets attached to the top-level, instead of the comment I'm replying to.

Yes, it does seem to be more likely if i've used "preview" and "spell check". But i think it's happened a few times without, as well.

I've noticed, possibly relatedly, that I often have to click twice to post a comment. The first click just realigns the page.

I've noticed that; it seems to be that clicking the button realigns the page, so that by the time you release the mouse, the button has realigned out from under the cursor. (Releasing the mouse button is what actually causes the click to happen.)

Yup. Never if I just post it straight, though, only when I mess with it first. (I usually cut, paste, delete the comment, and redo it.)

I never use "preview" or "spell check" (live dangerously!) and it happens to me FAR more often than I'd like. I'd say it's been going on for a month, maybe 2?

It's also more likely to happen to me if I click "reply to" on a comment, and then change my mind and click "reply to" on a different comment and try to post that. It will wind up posting as a reply to neither, choosing the top-level post instead. Maybe this is what [livejournal.com profile] feste_sylvain meant?

I don't believe that I've seen it happening to any of my comment replies.
