Let it be publicly known, that on September 21, Year of Our Lord 2007, 12:53 PM, that [livejournal.com profile] klingonlandlady opined that it would be a good idea if we had a kitchen trebuchet, for launching compost into the compost pile in the back yard.

So if/when it gets built, she ASKED for it.

Please note also that it should be a (somewhat) convenient kitchen appliance, and it should be Steam Punk. Also the stripper pole is still a higher priority, thanks :)

THAT makes me want to do an illustration. Or an arisia costume.

What a great idea!

Perhaps it would be more appropriate for Mr Herbert George Wells instead of Mr Verne. If I recall correctly, Mister Wells was fond of those wild new social concepts like "free love".

Hey if she's calibrating the stripper pole *I* want to watch, too.

Will you post plans? I could use one.

Or how about a zipline, such that the payload would dump itself out when it reached the end of the line?

On second thought, the slope from pantry to compost heap isn't steep enough. How about a rail gun?

Hm, telescoping pole with payload at top, attached to zipline, big crank to raise the pole and lever to release payload... all done up steampunk, of course.

And spherical, for extra credit.

Spherical rail gun. [livejournal.com profile] frobzwiththingz is the man to solve it.

How about a steam powered pneumatic system of tubes to deliver the payload to the compost pile?

Date: 2007-09-21 05:13 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] istemi.livejournal.com
oo! Biodegradable tubes, in "green" and "brown" flavors!

okay.

so there is a silks rig occasionally erected in your back yard.

the compost heap is BEHIND the rig

the kitchen window is in FRONT of the rig.

::avoids leotards resembling targets while on rig at phizplant::

hee! we'll have to be able to set it for a tall enough trajectory to avoid the aerialists. Unless we want to put on our own version of The Gong Show :)

what an excellent idea.

some kind of compostable substance to wrap around smaller pieces to bundle them together, too, so that they won't scatter along the path.

we were thinking of some kind of press, and corn husks :)

You had my thought! Well, mine was closer to, "need something to make it so cleanup of trebuchet isn't an issue..."

But I'm like that.

As I was posting my idea for a pneumatic system, I was wondering if some sort of disposable sabot would be needed to contain the payload.
