I guess I've lived up here long enough now. I knew it was going to be a rock before I clicked.

Everyone wants a rock to wind a piece of string around.

Especially if it's your kite string. Looks impressive at the beach, running around with one's kite tethered to it.

ayup. at least it wasn't ledge.

though, that deep, i'm almost surprised you didn't hit water.

and the japanese knotweed is knotty and growing. gots to harvest some.

btw, got a new toy: gibbon-slacklines.com - 90 feet of 2 inch webbing with a large locking ratchet - interesting! (actually, two, as i have a generic 2 inch webbing/ratchet set), will have gear to teach at fests now.

Of course even though it's a keeper, it's probably a great granddaddy rock in those waters, could spawn many more rocks in its lifetime if you throw it back.

Actually, I'm struck by the apparent *lack* of smaller rocks in that nice loamy-looking soil - nicer than our yard, for sure - it's a slate factory!

What potato varieties are you planting? We're trying a couple of heirloom varieties from Maine for our first attempt.

Damn, I miss those things out @ Santa Cruz. How much? So much I *bought* a rock. $200 delivered. I love it, but I sure felt like an idiot writing that check.

Um, what?

Really?

I'm not too far from SC, and I see plenty of rocks the size in the photo around, like on the side of the road out in front of my neighbor's house....

How big of a rock did you get for $200?

About 800 pounds IIRC. Big enough to sit on. What can I say, they just don't grow in my yard.

By tradition, you're now supposed to put that on the edge of your property as the start of a rock wall. Unless you already have a rock wall, in which case you just make it bigger.

thats where it went, into a rock wall forming a garden patch next to the house.

Pardon me for admiring you, not the rock!

A fine specimen, indeed.

Good thing you dug it up. I hear a frobzwiththingz can really wreak havoc on a rock crop.

My question is: was that near where the ground wasp, or yellowjacket, nest was? If so you might have a clue as to the life cycle of those puppies. Like how lost socks are the larval form of coat hangers.
