rain, rain, rain, rain. Yep. More rain.
The basement is currently dry, as the French Drain system we have works amazingly well. If we lose power, however, either we power the sump pump via generator or battery/inverter system, or we get hosed pretty quickly. like this

I got a set of those rubber boots with patterns on them lots of folk have been wearing lately. Black with colored polka-dots. Mostly i got them in prep for this years Firefly, which is always a mudfest, but they were great for sloshing around our new stream. For some reason, stores think that only women like having dry feet and socks. I'm a womens 9 when it comes to these. They run big.

Lake Phiz is early this year:

This is the new stream we have on our property! Running quite well, too!

It opens out onto the wetlands that are usually about 200 feet away but are *much* closer now...

I'm going to get the inverter system set up *now* so i can switch quickly if needed...

Mudbug!

Sometimes I miss living in the wilds and trees/etc. Then I remember all the other stuff that comes with it :)

(This weather makes me vaguely homesick for Oregon ;p)

Did you put in the french drain system yourself? Halleyscomet has been on me for ages to consider putting one in here. He wants to do it on our own and I am daunted by the idea. Since we're *cross fingers* going to have serious exterior rehab work taking place this spring which will provide us with a whole bunch of fill to distribute, we're having an open debate about the french drains again.

Thoughts?

I'm a bit surprised we haven't lost power again, but perhaps the winds from two weeks ago did a good job of removing dead branches.

Home Depot carries men's Wellington boots (or they did a couple of years ago when I noticed the boots). I've also seen them at Dodge Grain in Salem, NH (so you might find them at other feed/agricultural stores). A uniform supply store might also carry them.

Our basement was under about four inches of water before we noticed. By then the obvious places were out of pumps, but our downstairs neighbor found a pump of sorts, and we got a wet-dry vac.

That is a lot of wet. Hope it's dried out by now, though!
